On "Mater Tenebrarum, Vol. 2," Guillermo Pizarro presents another slab of the highly dense and expertly crafted noise that has defined every release in his catalogue. Building on his explorations with the Dark Interpreter granular synthesizer made by Micro Research, Pizarro constructs two highly dynamic and aesthetically diverse compositions that draw on a wide range of influences from across experimental and noise music's expanding history. Deep drones, caustic dissonance, and passages of terrifying ambience draw the listener in, creating space to explore each, before pulling out the rug from underneath their feet and pushing them into an entirely new space. Every turn is both unexpected and dedicated to an internal logics, revealing the kind of music that only a master artisan can create.
